Blue Bay
From plantation to exotic oasis
Blue Bay has everything you need for a wonderful vacation on Curaçao.
Blue Bay is a beach on Curaçao, located near the fishing village of Sint-Michiel northwest of Willemstad. While everyone suspects that the name has to do with the crystal clear blue water, the beach is actually named after the plantation Blaauw that was nearby. On this plantation, among other things, laraha oranges were grown, one of the basic ingredients for the famous blue liqueur, Blue Curaçao. Around 1990, the plantation was taken over by a development group and the Blue Bay Resort with the golf course, as it is now, was built.
Blue Bay has one of the widest beaches of Curaçao and is surrounded by beautiful palm trees which provide shady spots where you can relax. In the sea you will find the Blue Wall, a coral reef of over 40 meters long where diving or snorkeling is highly recommended. The beach slopes gently into the sea and is therefore ideally suited for families with children. The Blue Bay beach is not only popular with tourists, but also with the locals. This exotic oasis can be found just 15 minutes from Willemstad.
